"Amy has a glorious voice and her
accompanist was superb!" - Anne Laurier, Dufferin Arts
Council, re concert April 29 2006.
These light concerts feature diverse and eclectic
programs. Comedic songs to love songs to deeply felt war-time
sentiments are delivered with Amy’s unique poise, energy
and style. Repertoire for these concerts includes Gilbert
and Sullivan, popular opera arias, Broadway, some of Amy’s
favourite Art Songs and, finally, charming English and Canadian
parlour songs from the Victorian and World War I eras. This
dramatic conclusion to the program occasionally features “Miss
Amy” in her great-grandmother’s dress, great-great-grandmother’s
Irish lace shawl, high-buttoned boots, and crowned with a
magnificent feathered hat. These concerts have been successful
fund raisers for churches and community arts organizations.
Audience feedback has been positive and heartfelt.
Sunday Song Salons:
This charming series of mini-concerts was originally
presented by Amy and pianist Vojislav Perucica at Kingsway-Lambton
United Church and has been greeted with warm audience enthusiasm.
Sadly for we Canadians, Voja has returned to Serbia, but the
series has expanded to include contributions from a variety
of musicians. Initially structured to focus on a featured
composer of Art Song, these salons now serve as blank slates
for the artists' exciting creative programming. The concerts
are an hour long, followed by light refreshments and an opportunity
to talk with the artists.
The Sunday Song Salons are hosted by the Salon Patrons Group
at Kingsway-Lambton Church, and are intended to give Amy
and her fellow musicians more opportunities to perform,
incentive to learn new repertoire, and financial support
through freewill donations. In return, the church gets increased
visibility in the community, and evenings of delightful
entertainment.
